Metal Products Production and Consumption for 10 months 2019 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 10 months of 2019 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 15.54 Mt of metal products (101.2% to the same period of 2018) of which, according to ETR-Spectr Ltd, up to 12.92 Mt (or 83.2%) had been exported. For the same period of 2018 the share of export was 79.9% (12.28 Mt with the total metal products production up to 15.36 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 10 months 2019 was 47.02% that is higher than within Jan-Oct of 2018 (43.57%). The share of flat products for 10 months 2019 is a bit lower than for the same period of 2018 (33.45% and 34.99% respectively); the share of long products in the total export for 10 months 2019 is lower as well than for the same period of 2018 (19.53% and 21.44% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 10 months 2019 was 3832.4 Kt, of which 1217.4 Kt or 31.8% had been imported. For the same period of 2018 the domestic consumption was 4301.1 Kt of which 1217.1 Kt or 28.3% were imported. Therefore, for 10 months 2019 the domestic demand for metal products had reduced on 10.9% comparatively to the same period of 2018, but the import component share had slightly increased (+3.5%).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 10 months 2019 is the noticeable dominating of flat products over long products (56.89% and 40.12% respectively); within the same period of 2018 the domination of flat products over long products was less significant (50.77% and 46.43% respectively).
Main markets of the Ukrainian steel products, according to ETR Spectr Ltd, for Jan-Oct of 2019 are EU-28 (34.0%), African countries (17.7%) and Middle East (11.1%)
Among main steel importers for 10 months 2019, the first position belongs to CIS (47.1%), second to EU-28 (19.8%), third – to Asian countries (18.9%).
