Pig Iron
According to Worldsteel, in Jan-June 2022 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 705.83 Mt of the pig iron, of which 651.28 Mt by BFs and 54.55 Mt as DRI. This is 4.98% less than in Jan-May 2021 (742.83 Mt).
The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-June 2022 had produced 438.93 Mt that is less than in Jan-June 2021 (460.58 Mt) on 4.70%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-June 2022 is 62.2%.
Ukraine (4.54 Mt or 42.12% to Jan-June 2021) occupies the 13th position among 40 world pig iron producers.
Steel
The steel world production in Jan-June 2022 is 949.44 Mt that is of 5.51% lower than in Jan-June 2021 (1004.79 Mt).
China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 526.88 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-June 2021 (563.51 Mt) on 6.50%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.5%.
Ukraine (4.54 Mt or 41.8% to Jan-June 2021) occupies 21th position among 64 world steel producers.
