Metal Products Production and Consumption for 11 months 2023 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 11 months of 2023 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 4.86 Mt of metal products (92.8% to the same period of 2022), of which according to Expert-Scientific Council of UAVtormet, it was exported up to 2,64 Mt or 54.4%. For the same period of 2022, the share of export was 80.4% (4.21 Mt with the total metal products production up to 5.24 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 11 months 2023 was 41.73% that is noticeably lower to Jan-Nov 2022 (43.31%). The share of flat products for 11 months 2023 is a bit higher to the same period of 2022 (38.46% and 36.64% respectively). The share of long products for 11 months 2023 is almost similar to Jan-Nov 2023 (19.74% in 2023 and 20.05% in 2022).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 11 months 2023 is 3246.6 Kt, of which 1026.5 Kt or 31.62% had been imported. For the same period of 2022, the domestic consumption was 1577.6 Kt of which 549.6 Kt or 34.86% were imported. Therefore, for 11 months of 2023 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 105.79% comparatively to the same period of 2022, but the import component share had reduced on 3.22%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 11 months 2023, as well as earlier, is a significant domination of flat products over long products (75.78% and 24.16% respectively); in Jan-Nov 2022, the domination of flat products over long products was noticeable as well (66.69% and 31.30% respectively).
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to ESC UAVtormet, for Jan-Nov of 2023 are EU-27 (78.5%) and other Europe (7.2%).
Among main steel importers for 11 months 2023, the first position belongs to other Europe (41.2%), second to EU-27 (32.4%), third – to Asia (18.9%).
