Metal Products Production and Consumption for 4 months 2019 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 4 months of 2019 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 6.18 Mt of metal products (100.1% to the same period of 2018) of which, according SE Derzhanalytinform, up to 5.34 Mt (or 86.4%) had been exported. For the same period of 2018 the share of export was 83.8% (5.16 Mt with the total metal products production up to 6.18 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 4 months 2019 was 44.63% that is somewhat higher than within Jan-April of 2018 (43.88%). The share of flat products for 4 months 2019 exceeds this indicator for the same period of 2018 (35.31% and 32.93% respectively); the share of long products in the total export for 4 months 2019 is noticeably lower than for the same period of 2018 (20.06% and 23.18% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 4 months 2019 was 1254.4 Kt, of which 412.4 Kt or 32.9% had been imported. For the same period of 2018 the domestic consumption was 1417.0 Kt of which 401.0 Kt or 28.3% were imported. Therefore, for 4 months 2019 the domestic demand for metal products had reduced on 11.3% comparatively to the same period of 2018, whereas the import component had increased (+2.83%).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 4 months 2019 is the noticeable dominating of flat products over long products (54.66% and 39.16% respectively), whereas within the same period of 2018 the long products share was noticeably higher than the flat products share (49.05% and 46.96% respectively).
Main markets of the Ukrainian steel products, according to SE Derzhanalytinform, for Jan-April of 2019 are EU-28 (32.2%), African countries (18.4%) and Middle East (11.7%)
Among main steel importers for 4 months 2019, the first position belongs to CIS (55.5%), second to EU-28 (16.8%), third – to Asian countries (13.7%).
