Metal Products Production and Consumption for 5 months 2021 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 5 months of 2021 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 8.02 Mt of metal products (107.98% to the same period of 2020), of which according to V.S.K.GROUP, it was exported up to 6,59 Mt or 82.1%. For the same period of 2020, the share of export was 83.5% (6.21 Mt with the total metal products production up to 7.43 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 5 months 2021 was 46.38% that is lower than within Jan-May of 2020 (49.74%). The share of flat products for 5 months 2021 is noticeably higher than for the same period of 2020 (38.08% and 32.05% respectively). The share of long products for 5 months of 2021 is lower than for the same period of 2020 (15.54% in 2021 and 18.21% in 2020).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 5 months 2021 is 1809.7 Kt, of which 377.7 Kt or 20.87% had been imported. For the same period of 2020, the domestic consumption was 1659.7 Kt of which 434.7 Kt or 26.19% were imported. Therefore, for 5 months of 2021 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 9.04% comparatively to the same period of 2020, but the import component share had decreased on 5.32%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 5 months 2021 is a significant domination of flat products over long products (54.73% and 43.13% respectively); in Jan-May 2020, the domination of flat products over long products was less significant (50.98% and 47.20% respectively).
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to V.S.K.GROUP, for Jan-May of 2021 are EU-27 (33.7%), other Europe (21.3%) and South America (10.7%)
Among main steel importers for 4 months 2021, the first position belongs to CIS (45.1%), second to EU-27 (23.1%), third – to Asia (15.6%).
