Metal Products Production and Consumption for 7 months 2021 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 7 months of 2021 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 11.33 Mt of metal products (106.38% to the same period of 2020), of which according to V.S.K.GROUP, it was exported up to 9,06 Mt or 80.0%. For the same period of 2020, the share of export was 82.2% (8.75 Mt with the total metal products production up to 10.65 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 7 months 2021 was 46.09% that is lower than within Jan-July of 2020 (49.31%). The share of flat products for 7 months 2021 is noticeably higher than for the same period of 2020 (37.69% and 32.71% respectively). The share of long products for 7 months of 2021 is lower than for the same period of 2020 (16.22% in 2021 and 17.97% in 2020).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 7 months 2021 is 2840.3 Kt, of which 577.3 Kt or 20.33% had been imported. For the same period of 2020, the domestic consumption was 2539.4 Kt of which 644.4 Kt or 25.38% were imported. Therefore, for 7 months of 2021 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 11.85% comparatively to the same period of 2020, but the import component share had decreased on 5.05%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 7 months 2021 is a significant domination of flat products over long products (55.14% and 42.65% respectively); in Jan-July 2020, the domination of flat products over long products almost the same as in 2021 (54.81% and 43.78% respectively).
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to V.S.K.GROUP, for Jan-July of 2021 are EU-27 (33.7%), other Europe (21.5%) and South America (10.5%)
Among main steel importers for 7 months 2021, the first position belongs to CIS (39.7%), second to EU-27 (22.4%), third – to other Europe (19.4%).
