Metal Products Production and Consumption for 8 months 2021 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 8 months of 2021 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 13.01 Mt of metal products (106.00% to the same period of 2020), of which according to V.S.K.GROUP, it was exported up to 10,22 Mt or 78.5%. For the same period of 2020, the share of export was 82.4% (10.12 Mt with the total metal products production up to 12.28 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 8 months 2021 was 46.55% that is lower than within Jan-Aug of 2020 (50.44%). The share of flat products for 8 months 2021 is noticeably higher than for the same period of 2020 (37.04% and 32.13% respectively). The share of long products for 8 months of 2021 is lower than for the same period of 2020 (16.41% in 2021 and 17.43% in 2020).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 8 months 2021 is 3507.9 Kt, of which 712.9 Kt or 20.32% had been imported. For the same period of 2020, the domestic consumption was 2921.6 Kt of which 762.6 Kt or 26.10% were imported. Therefore, for 8 months of 2021 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 20.07% comparatively to the same period of 2020, but the import component share had decreased on 5.78%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 8 months 2021 is a significant domination of flat products over long products (55.16% and 42.68% respectively); in Jan-Aug 2020, the domination of flat products over long products almost the same as in 2021 (56.05% and 42.67% respectively).
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to V.S.K.GROUP, for Jan-Aug of 2021 are EU-27 (35.7%), other Europe (20.9%) and NAFTA (10.2%)
Among main steel importers for 8 months 2021, the first position belongs to CIS (36.9%), second to EU-27 (21.8%), third – to Asia (20.5%).
