Metal Products Production and Consumption for 9 months 2021 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 9 months of 2021 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 14.49 Mt of metal products (105.6% to the same period of 2020), of which according to V.S.K.GROUP, it was exported up to 11,49 Mt or 79.3%. For the same period of 2020, the share of export was 82.5% (11.31 Mt with the total metal products production up to 13.71 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 9 months 2021 was 46.63% that is lower than within Jan-Sept of 2020 (50.67%). The share of flat products for 9 months 2021 is noticeably higher than for the same period of 2020 (37.29% and 32.23% respectively). The share of long products for 9 months of 2021 is lower than for the same period of 2020 (16.08% in 2021 and 17.10% in 2020).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 9 months 2021 is 3832.0 Kt, of which 840.0 Kt or 21.92% had been imported. For the same period of 2020, the domestic consumption was 3296.6 Kt of which 894.6 Kt or 26.10% were imported. Therefore, for 9 months of 2021 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 16.25% comparatively to the same period of 2020, but the import component share had decreased on 5.22%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 9 months 2021 is a significant domination of flat products over long products (56.79% and 41.31% respectively); in Jan-Sept 2020, the domination of flat products over long products almost the same as in 2021 (56.345% and 42.48% respectively).
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to V.S.K.GROUP, for Jan-Sept of 2021 are EU-27 (35.9%), other Europe (20.3%) and NAFTA (10.1%) .
Among main steel importers for 9 months 2021, the first position belongs to CIS (35.2%), second to Asia (22.9%), third – to EU-27 (21.1%).
