Metal Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-Aug 2025
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-Aug of 2025 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 4256 Kt of metal products (98.6% to the same period of 2024), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 2481 Kt or 58.3%. For the same period of 2024, the share of export was 66.1% (2853 Kt with the total metal products production up to 4318 Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-Aug 2025 was 32.37% that is significantly lower to Jan-Aug 2024 (46.83%). The share of flat products in Jan-Aug 2025 is higher significantly to the same period of 2024 (44.38% and 39.19% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-Aug 2025 is higher noticeably to the same period of 2024 (23.26% in 2025 and 13.99% in 2024).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-Aug 2025, as well as earlier, is a significant domination of flat products over long products (70.24% and 20.96% respectively); in Jan-Aug 2024, the domination of flat products over long products was significant as well (79.73% and 18.80% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-Aug 2025 is 2813.5 Kt, of which 1042.5 Kt or 37.00% had been imported. For the same period of 2024, the domestic consumption was 2298.2 Kt of which 833.2 Kt or 36.25% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-Aug 2025 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 22.60% comparatively to the same period of 2024, and the import component share had raised on 0.75%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-Aug 2025 are EU-27 (81.4%), other Europe (8.5%) and CIS (6.6%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-Aug 2025, the first position belongs to other Europe (55.7%), second to EU-27 (23.5%), third – to Asia (18.2%).
