Metal Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-Dec 2024
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-Dec of 2024 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 6222 Kt of metal products (115.8% to the same period of 2023), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 4169 Kt or 67.0%. For the same period of 2023, the share of export was 55.6% (2985 Kt with the total metal products production up to 5372Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-Dec 2024 was 46.05% that is a noticeably more than in Jan-Dec 2023 (42.04%). The share of flat products in Jan-Dec 2024 is almost same as for Jan-Dec 2023 (40.27% and 39.22% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-Dec 2024 is lower significantly to the same period of 2023 (14.73% in 2024 and 17.69% in 2023).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-Dec 2024, as well as earlier, is a significant domination of flat products over long products (79.61% and 18.83% respectively); in Jan-Dec 2023, the domination of flat products over long products was noticeable as well (81.02% and 18.06% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-Dec 2024 is 3288.4 Kt, of which 1235.4 Kt or 37.57% had been imported. For the same period of 2023, the domestic consumption was 3507.9 Kt of which 1120.9 Kt or 31.95% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-Dec of 2024 the domestic demand for metal products had reduced on 6.26% comparatively to the same period of 2023, and the import component share had raised on 5.61%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-Dec 2024 are EU-27 (70.7%), Africa (10.1%) and other Europe (8.3%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-Dec 2024, the first position belongs to the other Europe (51.8%), second to EU-27 (27.7%), third – to Asia (19.2%).
