Metal Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-Feb 2026
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-Feb of 2026 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 796.7 Kt of metal products (83.2% to the same period of 2025), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 548.1 Kt or 68.8%. For the same period of 2025, the share of export was 63.5% (607.6 Kt with the total metal products production up to 957.0 Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-Feb 2026 was 33909% that is similar to Jan-Feb 2025 (22.21%). The share of flat products in Jan-Feb 2026 is noticeably higher than in 2025 (58.58% and 47.78% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-Feb 2026 is lower significantly to the same period of 2025 (7.52% in 2026 and 19.01% in 2025).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-Feb 2026 is a noticeable domination of flat products over long products (53.54% and 30.21% respectively); in Jan-Feb 2025, the domination of flat products over long products was much more significant (82.55% and 14.42% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-Feb 2026 is 495.5 Kt, of which 246.9 Kt or 49.83% had been imported. For the same period of 2025, the domestic consumption was 556.8 Kt of which 207.4 Kt or 37.25% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-Feb 2026 the domestic demand for metal products had reduced on 11.01% comparatively to the same period of 2025, but the import component share had increased on 12.58%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-Feb 2026 are EU-27 (75.8%), other Europe (12.7%) and CIS (6.4%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-Feb 2026, the first position belongs to other Europe (44.9%), second to Asia (24.6%), third – to EU-27 (17.3%).
