Metal Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-Sept 2025
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-Sept of 2025 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 4843 Kt of metal products (100.4% to the same period of 2024), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 2918 Kt or 60.3%. For the same period of 2024, the share of export was 68.9% (3323 Kt with the total metal products production up to 4821 Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-Sept 2025 was 32.59% that is significantly lower to Jan-Sept 2024 (46.98%). The share of flat products in Jan-Sept 2025 is higher significantly to the same period of 2024 (44.24% and 39.00% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-Sept 2025 is higher noticeably to the same period of 2024 (23.17% in 2025 and 14.02% in 2024).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-Sept 2025, as well as earlier, is a significant domination of flat products over long products (67.14% and 21.28% respectively); in Jan-Sept 2024, the domination of flat products over long products was significant as well (79.37% and 19.19% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-Sept 2025 is 3164.5 Kt, of which 1239.5 Kt or 39.17% had been imported. For the same period of 2024, the domestic consumption was 2425.1 Kt of which 927.1 Kt or 38.23% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-Sept 2025 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 39.49% comparatively to the same period of 2024, and the import component share had raised on 0.94%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-Sept 2025 are EU-27 (79.9%), other Europe (8.9%) and CIS (6.2%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-Sept 2025, the first position belongs to other Europe (50.3%), second to EU-27 (22.5%), third – to Asia (20.7%).
