Results of the Ukrainian Mining&Metallurgical Complex Activity: March and QI 2019
MMC Consolidated Indicators for March and QI 2019
According to clarified data of the balance meeting in Association UKRMETALURGPROM, the March production was as follows:
— Pig Iron – 1.83 Mt (115% to February 2019 production);
— Steel – 1.97 Mt (117%);
— Finished Products – 1.69 Mt (115%).
For 3 months 2019 were produced:
- Iron Ore Concentrate – 15.57 Mt (103% to the same period of 2018);
- Agglomerate – 7.90 Mt (99%);
- Pellets – 5.47 Mt (103%);
- Coke – 2.61 Mt (97%);
- Pig Iron – 5.21 Mt (99%);
- Steel – 5.51 Mt (102%);
- Finished Products – 4.78 Mt (102%);
- Pipes&Tubes – 0.28 Mt (104%).
As of 10 April 2019, the following main production facilities are in operation: 20 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 8 of 9 OHFs, 15 of 16 BOFs, 7 of 15 EAFs and 15 of 15 concast machines.
It is supposed to produce in May 2019: of Pig Iron – up to 1.7 Mt, of Steel – 1.9 Mt, of Finished Products – 1.7 Mt
The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources in April and 3 months 2019
Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)
In March 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises received up to 2.5 Mt of IORM (111% to February 2019).
There was no IORM import in March.
For 3 months 2019 enterprises were supplied with 7.3 Mt of IORM (all is of the Ukrainian origin, 92% to the same period of 2018).
The IORM export in March 2019 was around 3.26 Mt (102% to March 2019), and for 3 months 2019 – 9.76 Mt (109% to the same period of 2018).
Coking Coals
In March 2019 Ukrainian coking plants had received 1.24 Mt of coking coals (117% to February 2019), of which:
- 19 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (100% to February 2019);
- 05 Mt of imported (120% to February 2019).
In total, for 3 months 2019 coking plants received 3.56 Mt of coking coals (98% to the same period of 2018), of which:
- 63 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (87% to the same period of 2018);
- 93 of imported (101% to the same period of 2018).
The import share in the total coking coals delivery for 4 months 2019 is 82.2%.
The Metallurgical Coke
In March 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises were supplied with 828 Kt of the coke (114% to February 2019), of which:
- 765 Kt of the Ukrainian origin (113% to February 2019);
- 63 Kt of imported (126% to February 2019).
The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises for 3 months 2019 is 2.37 Mt (93% to the same period 2018), of which:
- 2 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (95% to the same period 2018);
- 17 Mt of imported (74% to the same period 2018).
The import share in the total coke delivery for 5 months 2019 is 7.2%.
The Bought Steel Scrap
In March 2019 the scrap collecting entities had collected 296 Kt of a steel scrap (218% to February 2019), of which the Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had received 288 Kt as a Bought Scrap (225% to February 2019), and 8 Kt were exported (100% to February 2019).
For 3 months 2019, of collected 661 Kt of steel scrap (77% to the same period 2018), Ukrainian consumers were supplied with 641 Kt (89% to the same period of 2018), and 20 Kt were exported (14% to the same period of 2018).
The Natural Gas and Electricity
In March 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had consumed up to 150 million cubic meters of the natural gas (103% to February 2019).
In total for 3 months 2019 the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 460 million cubic meters of the natural gas (90% to the same period of 2018).
The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in March 2019 is up to 1000 million kWh (110% to February 2019), and for 3 months 2019 is up to 2.92 billion kWh (97% to the same period 2018).
