Results of the Ukrainian Mining&Metallurgical Complex Activity: May and 5 months 2019
MMC Consolidated Indicators for May and 5 months 2019
According to clarified data of the balance meeting in Association UKRMETALURGPROM, the May production was as follows:
— Pig Iron – 1.68 Mt (91% to April 2019 production);
— Steel – 1.83 Mt (94%);
— Finished Products – 1.74 Mt (106%).
For 5 months 2019 were produced:
- Iron Ore Concentrate – 26.40 Mt (105% to the same period of 2018);
- Agglomerate – 13.28 Mt (102%);
- Pellets – 9.04 Mt (103%)l
- Coke – 4.43 Mt (98%);
- Pig Iron – 8.72 Mt (102%);
- Steel – 9.72 Mt (107%);
- Finished Products – 7.92 Mt (103%);
- Pipes&Tubes – 0.48 Mt (107%).
As of 11 June 2019, the following main production facilities are in operation: 16 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 7 of 9 OHFs, 11 of 16 BOFs, 5 of 15 EAFs and 15 of 15 concast machines.
It is supposed to produce in July 2019: of Pig Iron – up to 1.8 Mt, of Steel – 1.8 Mt, of Finished Products – 1.7 Mt
The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources in May and 5 months 2019
Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)
In May 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises received up to 2.3 Mt of IORM (87% to April 2019).
There was no IORM import in May.
For 5 months 2019 enterprises were supplied with 12.1 Mt of IORM (all is of the Ukrainian origin, 93% to the same period of 2018).
The IORM export in May 2019 was around 3.67 Mt (110% to April 2019), and for 5 months 2019 – 17.26 Mt (112% to the same period of 2018).
Coking Coals
In May 2019 Ukrainian coking plants had received 1.29 Mt of coking coals (99% to April 2019), of which:
- 23 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (127% to April 2019);
- 06 Mt of imported (94% to April 2019).
In total, for 5 months 2019 coking plants received 6.19 Mt of coking coals (103% to the same period of 2018), of which:
- 12 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (95% to the same period of 2018);
- 07 of imported (105% to the same period of 2018).
The import share in the total coking coals delivery for 5 months 2019 is 81.9% against 80.4% in the same period of 2018
The Metallurgical Coke
In May 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises were supplied with 845 Kt of the coke (104% to April 2019), of which:
- 779 Kt of the Ukrainian origin (104% to April 2019);
- 66 Kt of imported (103% to April 2019).
The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises for 5 months 2019 is 4.03 Mt (99% to the same period 2018), of which:
- 73 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (98% to the same period 2018);
- 30 Mt of imported (118% to the same period 2018).
The import share in the total coke delivery for 5 months 2019 is 7.4% against 6.3% in the same period of 2018
The Bought Steel Scrap
In May 2019 the scrap collecting entities had collected 360 Kt of a steel scrap (95% to April 2019), of which the Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had received 352 Kt as a Bought Scrap (95% to April 2019), and 8 Kt were exported (88% to April 2019).
For 5 months 2019, of collected 1401 Kt of steel scrap (90% to the same period 2018), Ukrainian consumers were supplied with 1364 Kt (105% to the same period of 2018), and 37 Kt were exported (15% to the same period of 2018).
The Natural Gas and Electricity
In May 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had consumed up to 140 million cubic meters of the natural gas (100% to April 2019).
In total for 5 months 2019 the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 740 million cubic meters of the natural gas (94% to the same period of 2018).
The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in May 2019 is up to 980 million kWh (103% to April 2019), and for 5 months 2019 is up to 4.85 billion kWh (98% to the same period 2018).
