According to UKRMETALURGPROM data, in Jan-March 2021, steelmaking enterprises of Ukraine produced:

• Agglomerate – 8.22 Mt (104.6% to Jan-March 2020);
• Coke – 2.42 Mt (98.7%);
• Pig Iron – 5.31 Mt (104.3%);
• Steel – 5.29 Mt (99.5%);
• Finished Products – 4.73 Mt (101.4%);
• Pipes&Tubes – 0.203 Mt (96.3%).

As of 13 April 2021, the following main production facilities are in operation: 17 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 7 of 8 OHFs, 14 of 16 BOFs, 5 of 15 EAFs and 15 of 17 concast machines.

The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources

Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)

The provision of steelmaking enterprises with IORM in Jan-March 2021 was on the level matching the steelmakers’ demands. There was no import of IORM within this period.

The IORM export in Jan-March 2021 was around 10.66 Mt (95.2% to the same period of 2020).

Coking Coals

In Jan-March 2021, Ukrainian coking plants received 3.25 Mt of coking coals (99.7% to the same period of 2020), of which:

• 92 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (94.1% to Jan-March 2020);
• 33 Mt of imported (101.8% to Jan-March 2020).

The import share in the total coking coals delivery in Jan-March 2021 is 71.7% against 70.1% in Jan-March 2020.

The Metallurgical Coke

The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises in Jan-March 2021 is 2.034 Mt (98.5% to Jan-March 2020), of which:

• 996 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (97% to Jan-March 2020);
• 038 Mt of imported (475% to Jan-March 2020).

The import share in the total coke delivery in Jan-March 2021 is 1.87% against 0.39% in Jan-March 2020.

The Bought Steel Scrap

In Jan-March 2021, 869 Kt of steel scrap (125.7% to Jan-March 2020) were collected, of which 820 Kt (120.6% to Jan-March 2020) had been delivered to the Ukrainian consumers. It was exported 49 Kt of steel scrap in Jan-March 2021 (431% to Jan-March 2020).

The Natural Gas and Electricity

In Jan-March 2021, the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 500 million cubic meters of the natural gas (109.7% to the same period of 2020).

The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in Jan-March 2021 is up to 2.8 billion kWh (102.2% to Jan-March 2020).
