Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Dec 2022 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 1389.55 Mt of the pig iron, of which 1279.03 Mt by BFs and 110.52 Mt as DRI. This is 3.00% less than in Jan-Dec 2021 (1432.49 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Dec 2022 had produced 863.83 Mt that is less than in Jan-Dec 2021 (870.80 Mt) on 0.80%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Dec 2022 is 62.2%.

Ukraine (6.39 Mt or 30.20% to Jan-Dec 2021) occupies the 15th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Dec 2022 is 1831.47 Mt that is of 4.33% lower than in Jan-Dec 2021 (1914.44 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 1013.00 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-Dec 2021 (1034.73 Mt) on 2.10%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.3%.

Ukraine (6.26 Mt or 29.31% to Jan-Dec 2021) occupies 24th position among 64 world steel producers.
