Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Dec 2025 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 1368.49 Mt of the pig iron, of which 1239.29 Mt by BFs and 129.20 Mt as DRI. This is 1.79% less than in Jan-Dec 2024 (1393.41 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Dec 2025 had produced 836.04 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Dec 2024 (861.90 Mt) on 3.00%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Dec 2025 is 61.1%.

Ukraine (7.88 Mt or 111.21% to Jan-Dec 2024) remains on 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Dec 2025 is 1803.78 Mt that is of 2.01% less than in Jan-Dec 2024 (1840.86 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 960.81 Mt that is lower than their steel production of Jan-Dec 2024 (1005.03 Mt) on 4.40%. The share of China in the world steel production is 53.3%.

Ukraine (7.41 MT or 97.81% to Jan-Dec2024) remains on 21^st position among 71 world steel producers.
