Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Feb 2025 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 225.56 Mt of the pig iron, of which 207.28 Mt by BFs and 18.28 Mt as DRI. This is 1.18% less than in Jan-Feb 2024 (228.26 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Feb 2025 had produced 140.75 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Feb 2024 (141.46 Mt) on 0.50%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Feb 2024 is 62.4%.

Ukraine (1.14 Mt or 108.45% to Jan-Feb 2024) remains on 14^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Feb 2025 is 301.96 Mt that is of 2.16% less than in Jan-Feb 2024 (308.61 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 166.30 Mt that is lower than their steel production of Jan-Feb 2024 (168.83 Mt) on 1.50%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.1%.

Ukraine (1.18 or 109.92% to Jan-Feb 2024) remains on 21^st position among 71 world steel producers.
