Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-July 2022 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 823.46 Mt of the pig iron, of which 758.78 Mt by BFs and 64.68 Mt as DRI. This is 4.65% less than in Jan-July 2021 (863.62 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-July 2022 had produced 510.90 Mt that is less than in Jan-July 2021 (534.97 Mt) on 4.50%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-July 2022 is 62.0%.

Ukraine (4.82 Mt or 38.06% to Jan-July 2021) occupies the 14th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-July 2022 is 1102.31 Mt that is of 5.38% lower than in Jan-July 2021 (1164.93 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 609.28 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-July 2021 (650.94 Mt) on 6.40%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.3%.

Ukraine (4.82 Mt or 37.86% to Jan-July 2021) occupies 21th position among 64 world steel producers.
