Ukraine in the World Ferrous Production in Jan-Mar 2025
Pig Iron
According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Mar 2025 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 346.34 Mt of the pig iron, of which 317.49 Mt by BFs and 28.85 Mt as DRI. This is 0.04% more than in Jan-Mar 2024 (346.21 Mt).
The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Mar 2025 had produced 216.28 Mt that is higher than in Jan-Mar 2024 (214.56 Mt) on 0.80%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Mar 2024 is 62.5%.
Ukraine (1.70 Mt or 107.16% to Jan-Mar 2024) remains on 14th position among 40 world pig iron producers.
Steel
The steel world production in Jan-Mar 2025 is 468.61 Mt that is of 0.36% less than in Jan-Mar 2024 (470.31 Mt).
China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 259.33 Mt that is higher than their steel production of Jan-Mar 2024 (257.78 Mt) on 0.60%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.3%.
Ukraine (1.73 or 102.74% to Jan-Mar 2024) shifted down from 21st to 23rd position among 71 world steel producers.
