Ukraine in the World Ferrous Production in Jan-May 2023
Pig Iron
According to Worldsteel, in Jan-May 2023 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 595.08 Mt of the pig iron, of which 548.23 Mt by BFs and 46.85 Mt as DRI. This is 1.17% more than in Jan-May 2022 (588.18 Mt).
The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-May 2023 had produced 374.74 Mt that is more than in Jan-May 2022 (363.12 Mt) on 3.20%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-May 2023 is 62.97%.
Ukraine (2.35 Mt or 56.07% to Jan-May 2022) remains on 17th position among 40 world pig iron producers.
Steel
The steel world production in Jan-May 2023 is 785.96 Mt that is of 1.19% lower than in Jan-May 2022 (795.41 Mt).
China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 444.63 Mt that is higher than their steel production of Jan-May 2022 (437.63 Mt) on 1.60%. The share of China in the world steel production is 56.6%.
Ukraine (2.39 Mt or 56.35% to Jan-May 2022) raised from 26th to 25th position among 64 world steel producers.
