Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Nov 2024 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 1276.75 Mt of the pig iron, of which 1160.23 Mt by BFs and 116.52 Mt as DRI. This is 1.95% less than in Jan-Nov 2023 (1302.16 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Nov 2024 had produced 782.77 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Nov 2023 (811.16 Mt) on 3.50%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Nov 2024 is 61.3%.

Ukraine (6.52 Mt or 119.79% to Jan-Nov 2023) remains on 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Nov 2024 is 1694.59 Mt that is of 1.44% less than in Jan-Nov 2023 (1719.27 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 929.19 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-Nov 2023 (954.97 Mt) on 2.70%. The share of China in the world steel production is 54.8%.

Ukraine (7.03 Mt or 123.14% to Jan-Nov 2023) remains on 20^th position among 71 world steel producers.
