Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Sept 2022 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 1054.36 Mt of the pig iron, of which 971.83 Mt by BFs and 82.53 Mt as DRI. This is 3.57% less than in Jan-Sept 2021 (1093.41 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Sept 2022 had produced 656.10 Mt that is less than in Jan-Sept 2021 (672.92 Mt) on 2.50%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Sept 2022 is 62.2%.

Ukraine (5.46 Mt or 35.81% to Jan-Sept 2021) occupies the 14th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Sept 2022 is 1405.19 Mt that is of 4.25% lower than in Jan-Sept 2021 (1467.62 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 780.83 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-Sept 2021 (808.31 Mt) on 3.40%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.6%.

Ukraine (5.53 Mt or 35.92% to Jan-Sept 2021) occupies 23th position among 64 world steel producers.
