Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Sept 2025 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 1041.54 Mt of the pig iron, of which 946.16 Mt by BFs and 95.38 Mt as DRI. This is 0.96% less than in Jan-Sept 2024 (1051.67 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Sept 2025 had produced 645.86 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Sept 2024 (653.04 Mt) on 1.10%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Sept 2024 is 62.0%.

Ukraine (5.79 Mt or 108.13% to Jan-Sept 2024) remains on 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Sept 2025 is 1373.81 Mt that is of 1.64% less than in Jan-Sept 2024 (1396.69 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 746.25 Mt that is lower than their steel production of Jan-Sept 2024 (768.54 Mt) on 2.90%. The share of China in the world steel production is 54.3%.

Ukraine (5.52 MT or 93.88% to Jan-Sept 2024) remains on 22^nd position among 71 world steel producers.
