Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in January 2025 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 110.78 Mt of the pig iron, of which 100.54 Mt by BFs and 10.24 Mt as DRI. This is 6.00% less than in January 2025 (117.86 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in January 2026 had produced 65.92 Mt that is lower than in January 2025 (73.95 Mt) on 10.86%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in January 2026 is 59.5%.

Ukraine (0.55 Mt or 92.45% to January 2025) occupies 14^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in January 2026 is 147.34 Mt that is of 6.51% less than in January 2025 (157.596 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 75.27 Mt that is lower than their steel production of January 2025 (87.38 Mt) on 13.85%. The share of China in the world steel production is 51.1%.

Ukraine (0.51 or 83.68% to January 2025) occupies 25^th position among 71 world steel producers.
