Metal Products Production and Consumption for 10 months 2023 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 10 months of 2023 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 4.37 Mt of metal products (87.00% to the same period of 2022), of which according to Expert-Scientific Council of UAVtormet, it was exported up to 2,40 Mt or 55.9%. For the same period of 2022, the share of export was 79.7% (4.00 Mt with the total metal products production up to 5.02 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 10 months 2023 was 43.14% that is almost same to Jan-Oct 2022 (44.34%). The share of flat products for 10 months 2023 is almost similar to the same period of 2022 (37.02% and 37.25% respectively); a similar picture is observed for long products (19.84% in 2023 and 19.41% in 2022).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 10 months 2023 is 2903.5 Kt, of which 937.5 Kt or 32.29% had been imported. For the same period of 2022, the domestic consumption was 1492.7 Kt of which 475.7 Kt or 31.87% were imported. Therefore, for 10 months of 2023 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 94.51% comparatively to the same period of 2022, but the import component share had increased on 0.42%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 10 months 2023, as well as earlier, is a significant domination of flat products over long products (75.50% and 24.44% respectively); in Jan-Oct 2022, the domination of flat products over long products was noticeable as well (66.16% and 32.62% respectively).
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to ESC UAVtormet, for Jan-Oct of 2023 are EU-27 (84.1%) and other Europe (7.3%).
Among main steel importers for 10 months 2023, the first position belongs to other Europe (39.9%), second to EU-27 (38.2%), third – to Asia (19.7%).
