Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Feb 2024 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 227.68 Mt of the pig iron, of which 209.30 Mt by BFs and 18.38 Mt as DRI. This is 1.47% more than in Jan-Feb 2023 (224.37 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Feb 2024 had produced 140.73 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Feb 2023 (141.58 Mt) on 0.60%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Feb 2024 is 61.8%.

Ukraine (1.05 Mt or 142.43% to Jan-Feb 2023) remains on 16^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Feb 2024 is 306.20 Mt that is of 2.77% more than in Jan-Feb 2023 (297.95 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 167.96 Mt that is more than their steel production of Jan-Feb 2023 (165.32 Mt) on 1.60%. The share of China in the world steel production is 54.9%.

Ukraine (1.08 Mt or 152.05% to Jan-Feb 2023) remains on 23^rd position among 71 world steel producers.
