Metal Products Production and Consumption for 11 months 2021 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 11 months of 2021 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 17.55 Mt of metal products (105.0% to the same period of 2020), of which according to V.S.K.GROUP, it was exported up to 13,71 Mt or 78.1%. For the same period of 2020, the share of export was 81.1% (13.55 Mt with the total metal products production up to 16.72 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 11 months 2021 was 45.29% that is lower than within Jan-Nov of 2020 (51.01%). The share of flat products for 11 months 2021 is noticeably higher than for the same period of 2020 (38.31% and 32.46% respectively). The share of long products for 11 months of 2021 is almost equal to the same period of 2020 (16.40% in 2021 and 16.53% in 2020).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 11 months 2021 is 4904.9 Kt, of which 1063.9 Kt or 21.69% had been imported. For the same period of 2020, the domestic consumption was 4297.0 Kt of which 1130.0 Kt or 26.30% were imported. Therefore, for 11 months of 2021 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 14.15% comparatively to the same period of 2020, but the import component share had decreased on 4.61%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 11 months 2021 is a significant domination of flat products over long products (54.94% and 41.65% respectively); in Jan-Nov 2020, the domination of flat products over long products almost the same as in 2021 (56.28% and 42.55% respectively).
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to V.S.K.GROUP, for Jan-Nov of 2021 are EU-27 (32.1%), other Europe (15.6%) and Middle East (12.8%).
Among main steel importers for 11 months 2021, the first position belongs to CIS (34.1%), second to EU-27 (25.8%), third – to Asia (22.2%).
