Metal Products Production and Consumption for 12 months 2023 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 12 months of 2023 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 5.37 Mt of metal products (100.4% to the same period of 2022), of which according to Expert-Scientific Council of UAVtormet, it was exported up to 2,99 Mt or 55.6%. For the same period of 2022, the share of export was 81.7% (4.37 Mt with the total metal products production up to 5.35 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 12 months 2023 was 40.30% that is noticeably lower to Jan-Nov 2022 (43.45%). The share of flat products for 12 months 2023 is noticeably higher as well to the same period of 2022 (40.41% and 36.34% respectively). The share of long products for 12 months 2023 is almost similar to Jan-Dec 2023 (19.53% in 2023 and 20.21% in 2022).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 12 months 2023 is 3505.6 Kt, of which 1118.6 Kt or 31.91% had been imported. For the same period of 2022, the domestic consumption was 1598.6 Kt of which 621.6 Kt or 38.88% were imported. Therefore, for 12 months of 2023 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 119.29% comparatively to the same period of 2022, but the import component share had reduced on 6.98%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 12 months 2023, as well as earlier, is a significant domination of flat products over long products (76.08% and 23.87% respectively); in Jan-Dec 2022, the domination of flat products over long products was noticeable as well (68.69% and 30.41% respectively).
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to ESC UAVtormet, for Jan-Dec of 2023 are EU-27 (82.0%) and other Europe (7.5%).
Among main steel importers for 12 months 2023, the first position belongs to other Europe (42.4%), second to EU-27 (37.3%), third – to Asia (18.2%).
