Metal Products Production and Consumption for 12 months 2020 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 12 months of 2020 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 18.43 Mt of metal products (101.2% to the same period of 2019) of which, according to V.S.K.GROUP, up to 14.75 Mt (or 80.0%) had been exported. For the same period of 2019, the share of export was 82.0% (14.94 Mt with the total metal products production up to 18.21 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 12 months 2020 was 50.77% that is higher than within Jan-Dec of 2019 (47.18%). The share of flat products for 12 months 2019 is commensurable with the same period of 2019 (32.51% and 33,80% respectively). The share of long products is noticeably lower than for the same period of 2019 (16.71% in 2020 and 20.02% in 2019).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 12 months 2020 is 4903.9 Kt, of which 1227.9 Kt or 25.4% had been imported. For the same period of 2019, the domestic consumption was 4697.3 Kt of which 1419.3 Kt or 30.2% were imported. Therefore, for 12 months 2020 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 4.4% comparatively to the same period of 2019, but the import component share had decreased on 5.2%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 12 months 2020 is a noticeable domination of flat products over long products (55.84% and 42.93% respectively), that is commensurable with the same period of 2019 (55.21% and 41.87% respectively).
Main markets of the Ukrainian steel products, according to V.S.K.GROUP, for Jan-Dec of 2020 are EU-28 (28.5%), other Europe (14.5%) and Asia (14.2%)
Among main steel importers for 12 months 2020, the first position belongs to CIS (38.5%), second to EU-28 (24.5%), third – to Asia (20.5%).
