Metal Products Production and Consumption for 4 months 2021 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 4 months of 2021 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 6.39 Mt of metal products (107.02% to the same period of 2020), of which according to V.S.K.GROUP, it was exported up to 5,32 Mt or 83.2%. For the same period of 2020, the share of export was 84.5% (5.05 Mt with the total metal products production up to 5.97 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 4 months 2021 was 48.47% that is lower than within Jan-Apr of 2020 (50.80%). The share of flat products for 4 months 2021 is noticeably higher than for the same period of 2020 (36.00% and 32.10% respectively). The share of long products for 4 months of 2021 is lower than for the same period of 2020 (15.53% in 2021 and 17.10% in 2020).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 4 months 2021 is 1363.7 Kt, of which 288.7 Kt or 21.17% had been imported. For the same period of 2020, the domestic consumption was 1265.1 Kt of which 341.1 Kt or 26.29% were imported. Therefore, for 4 months of 2021 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 7.79% comparatively to the same period of 2020, but the import component share had decreased on 5.79%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 4 months 2021 is a significant domination of flat products over long products (54.10% and 43.33% respectively); in Jan-Apr 2020, on the contrary, it was a noticeable domination of long products over flat products (50.40% and 47.52% respectively).
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to V.S.K.GROUP, for Jan-Apr of 2021 are EU-27 (31.4%), other Europe (22.9%) and NAFTA (9.4%) Among main steel importers for 4 months 2021, the first position belongs to CIS (47.4%), second to EU-27 (23.9%), third – to other Europe (14.2%).
