According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 4 months of 2020 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 5.97 Mt of metal products (96.6% to the same period of 2019) of which, according to ETR-Spectr Ltd, up to 5,05 Mt (or 84.5%) had been exported. For the same period of 2019  the share of export was 86.4% (5.34 Mt with the total metal products production up to 6.18 Mt).

The semi-products’ share in the total export for 4 months 2020 was 50.80% that is significantly higher than within Jan-Apr of 2019 (44.64%). The share of flat products for 4 months 2019 is noticeably lower than for the same period of 2019 (32.10% and 35.30% respectively)/ The same picture is for long products as well, 17.10% for 4 months 2020 to 20.06% for 4 months 2019.

The total domestic demand for metal products within43 months 2020 is 1266.1 Kt, of which 341.1 Kt or 26.9% had been imported. For the same period of 2019 the domestic consumption was 761.1 Kt of which 412.4 Kt or 32.9% were imported. Therefore, for 4 months 2020 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 0.94% comparatively to the same period of 2019, but the import component share had decreased on 5.9%.

The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 4 months 2020 is the noticeable dominating of long products over flat products (50.39% and 47.52% respectively); within the same period of 2019 there was a domination of flat products over long products (54.66% and 39.16% respectively).

Main markets of the Ukrainian steel products, according to ETR Spectr Ltd, for Jan-Apr of 2020 are EU-28 (31.0%), other Europe (14.5%) and Africa (13.2%)

Among main steel importers for 4 months 2020, the first position belongs to CIS (44.6%), second to EU-28 (25.2%), third – to other Europe (14.9%).
