Metal Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-Feb 2025
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-Feb of 2025 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 957.0 Kt of metal products (106.3% to the same period of 2024), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 607.7 Kt or 63.5%. For the same period of 2024, the share of export was 77.9% (701.4 Kt with the total metal products production up to 900.2 Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-Feb 2025 was 33.21% that is significantly lower to Jan-Feb 2024 (47.46%). The share of flat products in Jan-Feb 2025 is higher significantly to the same period of 2024 (47.79% and 38.68% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-Feb 2024 is higher noticeably to the same period of 2024 (19.01% in 2025 and 13.86% in 2024).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-Feb 2025, as well as earlier, is a significant domination of flat products over long products (82.55% and 14.42% respectively); in Jan-Feb 2024, the domination of flat products over long products was significant as well (85.05% and 13.86% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-Feb 2025 is 556.7 Kt, of which 207.4 Kt or 37.26% had been imported. For the same period of 2024, the domestic consumption was 370.0 Kt of which 207.4 Kt or 46.27% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-Feb 2025 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 50.47% comparatively to the same period of 2024, but the import component share had reduced on 9.01%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-Feb 2025 are EU-27 (73.8%), other Europe (13.5%) and CIS (7.7%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-Feb 2025, the first position belongs to other Europe (56.6%), second to EU-27 (24.5%), third – to Asia (18.5%).
