Results of the Ukrainian Mining&Metallurgical Complex Activity: August and 8 months 2019
MMC Consolidated Indicators for August and 8 months 2019
According to clarified data of the balance meeting in Association UKRMETALURGPROM, the August production was as follows:
— Pig Iron – 1.83 Mt (111% to July 2019 production);
— Steel – 1.94 Mt (109%);
— Finished Products – 1.54 Mt (102%).
For 8 months 2019 were produced:
- Iron Ore Concentrate – 42.44 Mt (106% to the same period of 2018);
- Agglomerate – 21.11 Mt (102%);
- Pellets – 14.76 Mt (103%);
- Coke – 6.87 Mt (96%);
- Pig Iron – 13.73 Mt (101%);
- Steel – 14.66 Mt (105%);
- Finished Products – 12.52 Mt (102%);
- Pipes&Tubes – 0.74 Mt (103%).
As of 10 Septembert 2019, the following main production facilities are in operation: 18 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 8 of 9 OHFs, 14 of 16 BOFs, 5 of 15 EAFs and 15 of 15 concast machines.

It is supposed to produce in Octoberr 2019: of Pig Iron – up to 1.85 Mt, of Steel – 1.95 Mt, of Finished Products – 1.70 Mt

The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources in August and 8 months 2019
Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)
In August 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises received up to 2.4 Mt of IORM (100% to July 2019).
There was no IORM import in August.
For 8 months 2019 enterprises were supplied with 18.90 Mt of IORM (all is of the Ukrainian origin, 94% to the same period of 2018).
The IORM export in August 2019 was around 3.5 Mt (100% to July 2019), and for 8 months 2019 – 27.76 Mt (112% to the same period of 2018).
Coking Coals
In August 2019 Ukrainian coking plants had received 1.19 Mt of coking coals (103% to July 2019), of which:
- 43 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (110% to July 2019);
- 76 Mt of imported (100% to July 2019).
In total, for 8 months 2019 coking plants received 9.45 Mt of coking coals (100% to the same period of 2018), of which:
- 26 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (132% to the same period of 2018);
- 19 of imported (93% to the same period of 2018).
The import share in the total coking coals delivery for 8 months 2019 is 76.1% against 82.0% in the same period of 2018
The Metallurgical Coke
In August 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises were supplied with 753 Kt of the coke (106% to July 2019), of which:
- 733 Kt of the Ukrainian origin (108% to July 2019);
- 20 Kt of imported (67% to July 2019).
The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises for 8 months 2019 is 6.16 Mt (97% to the same period 2018), of which:
- 80 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (95% to the same period 2018);
- 36 Mt of imported (135% to the same period 2018).
The import share in the total coke delivery for 8 months 2019 is 5.8% against 4.2% in the same period of 2018

The Bought Steel Scrap
In August 2019 the scrap collecting entities had collected 225 Kt of a steel scrap (117% to July 2019). The whole volume was delivered to Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises. There was no scrap export in August.
For 8 months 2019, of collected 2143 Kt of steel scrap (87% to the same period of 2018), Ukrainian consumers were supplied with 2106 Kt (97% to the same period of 2018), and 37 Kt were exported (12% to the same period of 2018).
The Natural Gas and Electricity
In August 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had consumed up to 150 million cubic meters of the natural gas (68% to July 2019).
In total for 8 months 2019 the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 1260 million cubic meters of the natural gas (102% to the same period of 2018).
The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in August 2019 is up to 980 million kWh (103% to July 2019), and for 8 months 2019 is up to 7.73 billion kWh (98% to the same period 2018).
