Metal Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-July 2025
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-July of 2025 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 3622 Kt of metal products (97.2% to the same period of 2024), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 2182 Kt or 60.2%. For the same period of 2024, the share of export was 64.5% (2405 Kt with the total metal products production up to 3728 Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-July 2025 was 31.58% that is significantly lower to Jan-July 2024 (46.90%). The share of flat products in Jan-July 2025 is higher significantly to the same period of 2024 (44.55% and 39.83% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-July 2025 is higher noticeably to the same period of 2024 (22.83% in 2025 and 13.26% in 2024).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-July 2025, as well as earlier, is a significant domination of flat products over long products (74.75% and 20.20% respectively); in Jan-July 2024, the domination of flat products over long products was significant as well (79.38% and 19.04% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-July 2025 is 2302.7 Kt, of which 862.7 Kt or 37.46% had been imported. For the same period of 2024, the domestic consumption was 2034.6 Kt of which 711.4 Kt or 34.97% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-July 2025 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 13.18% comparatively to the same period of 2024, and the import component share had raised on 2.49%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-July 2025 are EU-27 (81.5%), other Europe (8.2%) and CIS (6.7%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-July 2025, the first position belongs to other Europe (55.4%), second to EU-27 (23.7%), third – to Asia (17.8%).
