Metal Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-Nov 2024
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-Nov of 2024 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 5741 Kt of metal products (118.0% to the same period of 2023), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 3881 Kt or 67.6%. For the same period of 2023, the share of export was 54.4% (2664 Kt with the total metal products production up to 4864 Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-Nov 2024 was 46.26% that is a noticeably more than in Jan-Nov 2023 (41.79%). The share of flat products in Jan-Nov 2024 is almost same as for Jan-Nov 2023 (39.04% and 38.46% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-Nov 2024 is lower significantly to the same period of 2023 (14.71% in 2024 and 19.74% in 2023).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-Nov 2024, as well as earlier, is a significant domination of flat products over long products (78.87% and 19.52% respectively); in Jan-Nov 2023, the domination of flat products over long products was noticeable as well (75.23% and 23.98% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-Nov 2024 is 2995.6 Kt, of which 1135.6 Kt or 37.91% had been imported. For the same period of 2023, the domestic consumption was 3254.2 Kt of which 1034.2 Kt or 31.78% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-Nov of 2024 the domestic demand for metal products had reduced on 7.95% comparatively to the same period of 2023, and the import component share had raised on 6.13%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-Nov 2024 are EU-27 (70.3%), Africa (10.5%) and other Europe (8.1%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-Nov 2024, the first position belongs to the other Europe (50.6%), second to EU-27 (28.0%), third – to Asia (20.0%).
