Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Apr 2024 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 460.57 Mt of the pig iron, of which 423.13 Mt by BFs and 37.44 Mt as DRI. This is 2.43% less than in Jan-Apr 2023 (472.02 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Apr 2024 had produced 284.99 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Apr 2023 (297.80 Mt) on 4.30%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Apr 2024 is 61.9%.

Ukraine (2.19 Mt or 125.10% to Jan-Apr 2023) occupies 15^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Apr 2024 is 625.37 Mt that is of 0.89%less than in Jan-Apr 2023 (631.01 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 343.67 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-Apr 2023 (354.30 Mt) on 3.00%. The share of China in the world steel production is 54.95%.

Ukraine (2.40 or 132.76% to Jan-Apr 2023) raised from 23^rd to 22^nd position among 71 world steel producers.
