Results of the Ukrainian Mining&Metallurgical Complex Activity: September and 9 months 2019
MMC Consolidated Indicators for September and 9 months 2019
According to clarified data of the balance meeting in Association UKRMETALURGPROM, the September production was as follows:
— Pig Iron – 1.75 Mt (96% to August 2019 production);
— Steel – 1.75 Mt (90%);
— Finished Products – 1.57 Mt (102%).
For 9 months 2019 were produced:
- Iron Ore Concentrate – 47.33 Mt (105% to the same period of 2018);
- Agglomerate – 23.71 Mt (101%);
- Pellets – 16.21 Mt (101%);
- Coke – 7.71 Mt (96%);
- Pig Iron – 15.48 Mt (101%);
- Steel – 16.40 Mt (104%);
- Finished Products – 14.09 Mt (102%);
- Pipes&Tubes – 0.807 Mt (96%)

As of 9 October 2019, the following main production facilities are in operation: 15 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 8 of 9 OHFs, 11 of 16 BOFs, 5 of 15 EAFs and 14 of 15 concast machines.

It is supposed to produce in November 2019: of Pig Iron – up to 1.70 Mt, of Steel – 1.75 Mt, of Finished Products – 1.60 Mt
The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources in September and 9 months 2019
Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)
In September 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises received up to 2.4 Mt of IORM (100% to August 2019).
There was no IORM import in September.
For 9 months 2019 enterprises were supplied with 21.3 Mt of IORM (all is of the Ukrainian origin, 94% to the same period of 2018).
The IORM export in September 2019 was around 3.05 Mt (87% to August 2019), and for 9 months 2019 – 30.24 Mt (109% to the same period of 2018).
Coking Coals
In September 2019 Ukrainian coking plants had received 1.09 Mt of coking coals (87% to August 2019), of which:
- 31 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (73% to August 2019);
- 78 Mt of imported (94% to August 2019).
In total, for 9 months 2019 coking plants received 10.56 Mt of coking coals (98% to the same period of 2018), of which:
- 50 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (129% to the same period of 2018);
- 06 of imported (91% to the same period of 2018).
The import share in the total coking coals delivery for 9 months 2019 is 76.3% against 82.0% in the same period of 2018
The Metallurgical Coke
In September 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises were supplied with 731 Kt of the coke (97% to August 2019), of which:
- 718 Kt of the Ukrainian origin (98% to August 2019);
- 13 Kt of imported (65% to August 2019).
The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises for 9 months 2019 is 6.89 Mt (97% to the same period 2018), of which:
- 52 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (95% to the same period 2018);
- 37 Mt of imported (131% to the same period 2018).
The import share in the total coke delivery for 9 months 2019 is 5.4% against 4.0% in the same period of 2018

The Bought Steel Scrap
In September 2019 the scrap collecting entities had collected 238 Kt of a steel scrap (106% to August 2019), of which the Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had received 235 Kt as a Bought Scrap (104% to August 2019), and 3 Kt were exported (there was no steel scrap export in August 2019).
For 9 months 2019, of collected 2381 Kt of steel scrap (87% to the same period of 2018), Ukrainian consumers were supplied with 2340 Kt (96% to the same period of 2018), and 41 Kt were exported (13% to the same period of 2018).
The Natural Gas and Electricity
In September 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had consumed up to 140 million cubic meters of the natural gas (93% to August 2019).
In total for 9 months 2019 the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 1,4 billion cubic meters of the natural gas (101% to the same period of 2018).
The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in September 2019 is up to 890 million kWh (91% to August 2019), and for 9 months 2019 is up to 8.62 billion kWh (98% to the same period 2018).
