Ukraine in the World Ferrous Production in Jan-Oct 2020

Pig Iron
According to Worldsteel, for 10 months of 2020 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 1148.07 Mt of the pig iron, of which 1077.53 Mt by BFs and 70.54 Mt as DRI. This is 1.86% lower to the same period of 2019 (1169.88 Mt).
The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Oct 2020 had produced 741.70 Mt that exceeds the same period of 2019 (710.79 Mt) on 4.35%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production for Jan-Oct 2020 is 64.6%.
Positions of other leading countries are same as before.
Ukraine (16.88 Mt or 98.9% to Jan-Octt 2019) occupies the 9th position among 40 pig iron producers.
The decrease of the global pig iron production is stipulated, first of all, by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Steel
The steel world production in Jan-Oct 2020 is 1511.04 Mt that is of 2.03% lower than for Jan-Oct 2019 (1542.34 Mt).
China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 873.93 Mt that exceeds their steel production of the same period of 2019 (828.75 Mt) on 5.45%. The share of China in the world steel production is 57.8%.
Germany (29.144 Mt or 86.1% to Jan-Oct 2019) moved up to 7th position, shifting Turkey down (29.140 Mt or 104.2%) to 8th position.
Positions of other leading countries are same as before.
Ukraine (16.98 Mt or 94.5% to Jan-Oct 2019) occupies 13th position among 62 world steel producers.
