According to UKRMETALURGPROM data, in Jan-Oct 2020, steelmaking enterprises of Ukraine produced:

• Agglomerate – 26.28 Mt (100.3% to the same period of 2019);
• Coke – 8.01 Mt (93.7%);
• Pig Iron – 16.88 Mt (98.9%);
• Steel – 16.98 Mt (94.5%);
• Finished Products – 15.17 Mt (97.6%);
• Pipes&Tubes – 0.71 Mt (81.7%).

As of 11 November 2020, the following main production facilities are in operation: 17 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 7 of 8 OHFs, 13 of 16 BOFs, 6 of 15 EAFs and 16 of 17 concast machines.

 The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources

Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)

Taking into consideration the low production of metal products, the provision of steelmaking enterprises with IORM in Jan-Oct 2020 was on the level matching the steelmakers’ demands. There was no import of IORM within this period.

The IORM export in Jan-Oct 2020 was around 38.49 Mt (116% to Jan-Oct 2019).

 Coking Coals

For 10 months 2020, Ukrainian coking plants received 10.86 Mt of coking coals (93% to the same period of 2019), of which:

• 90 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (105% to the same period of 2019);
• 96 Mt of imported (90% to the same period of 2019).

The import share in the total coking coals delivery in Jan-OctSept 2020 is 73.3% against 76.2% in Jan-Oct 2019.

The Metallurgical Coke

The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises in Jan-Oct 2020 is 6.73 Mt (89% to the same period of 2019), of which:

• 64 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (92% to the same period of 2019);
• 0,09 Mt of imported (23% to the same period of 2019).

The import share in the total coke delivery for 10 months 2020 is 1.34% against 5.13% in Jan-Oct 2019.

The Bought Steel Scrap

For 10 months 2020, 2372 Kt of steel scrap (90% to Jan-Oct 2019) were collected, of which 2340 Kt (90% to the same period of 2019) had been delivered to the Ukrainian consumers. It was exported 32 Kt of steel scrap in Jan-Oct 2020 (80% to the same period of 2019).

 The Natural Gas and Electricity

For 10 months 2020, the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 1.55 billion cubic meters of the natural gas (101% to the same period of 2019).

The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in Jan-Oct 2020 is up to 9.12 billion kWh (96% to the same period of 2019).
