Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Aug 2025 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 931.04 Mt of the pig iron, of which 846.60 Mt by BFs and 84.44 Mt as DRI. This is 1.02% less than in Jan-Aug 2024 (940.66 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Aug 2025 had produced 579.07 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Aug 2024 (585.51 Mt) on 1.10%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Aug 2024 is 62.2%.

Ukraine (5.11 Mt or 107.95% to Jan-Aug 2024) remains on 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Aug 2025 is 1230.64 Mt that is of 1.69% less than in Jan-Aug 2024 (1251.82 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 671.81 Mt that is lower than their steel production of Jan-Aug 2024 (691.16 Mt) on 2.80%. The share of China in the world steel production is 54.6%.

Ukraine (4.91 or 93.15% to Jan-Aug 2024) remains on 22^nd position among 71 world steel producers.
