Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-July 2025 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 813.72 Mt of the pig iron, of which 740.02 Mt by BFs and 73.70 Mt as DRI. This is 1.05% less than in Jan-July 2024 (822.37 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-July 2025 had produced 505.83 Mt that is lower than in Jan-July 2024 (512.49 Mt) on 1.30%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-July 2024 is 62.2%.

Ukraine (4.36 Mt or 106.67% to Jan-July 2024) remains on 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-July 2025 is 1086.24 Mt that is of 1.90% less than in Jan-July 2024 (1107.27 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 594.47 Mt that is lower than their steel production of Jan-July 2024 (613.49 Mt) on 3.10%. The share of China in the world steel production is 54.7%.

Ukraine (4.26 or 93.02% to Jan-July 2024) shifted down from 21^st to 22^nd position among 71 world steel producers.
