Ukraine in the World Ferrous Production in Jan-March 2020
Pig Iron
According to Worldsteel, for three months of 2020 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 333,68 Mt of the pig iron, of which 310.86 Mt by BFs and 22.82 Mt as DRI. This is 0.33% lower of the analogue period of 2018 (334.79 Mt).
The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-March 2020 had produced 199.74 Mt that exceeds the same period of 2019 (195.11 Mt) on 2.37%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production for Jan-March 2020 is 59.9%.
Ukraine fell from 9th to 10th position among 40 world pig iron producers (5.095 Mt or 97.8% to Jan-March 2019), giving way to USA (5.53 Mt or 95.4% to Jan-March 2019).
Positions of other leading countries are same as before.
The decrease of the global pig iron production is stipulated, first of all, by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Steel
The steel world production in Jan-March of 2020 is 443.03 Mt that is 1.38% less than for Jan-March 2019 (449.22 Mt).
China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 234.45 Mt that exceeds their steel production in the same period of 2019 (231.70 Mt) on 3.07%. The share of China in the world steel production is 52.9%.
Brazil (8.02 Mt or 93.0% to the same period of 2019) raised on the 9th position, shifting Iran (6.75 Mt or 105.8%) to 10th. Vietnam (4.96 Mt or 99.9%) occupies 13th position, instead of Taiwan (5.28 Mt or 85.4%), which is on 14th position now.
Ukraine raised on 11th position among 62 world steel producers (5.32 Mt or 96.6% to the same period of 2019), shifting Italy on 12th position (5.28 Mt or 83.8%).
