According to UKRMETALURGPROM data, in Jan-Dec 2021, steelmaking enterprises of Ukraine produced:

• Agglomerate – 32.92 Mt (103.1% to Jan-Dec 2020);
• Coke – 9.54 Mt (99.7%);
• Pig Iron – 21.17 Mt (103.6%);
• Steel – 21.37 Mt (103.6%);
• Finished Products – 19.08 Mt (103.5%);
• Pipes&Tubes – 0.98 Mt (115.1%).

As of 12 January 2022, the following main production facilities are in operation: 17 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 7 of 8 OHFs, 12 of 16 BOFs, 5 of 15 EAFs and 16 of 17 concast machines.

The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources

Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)

The provision of steelmaking enterprises with IORM in Jan-Dec 2021 was on the level matching the steelmakers’ demands. There was no import of IORM within this period.

The IORM export in Jan-Dec 2021 was around 44.42 Mt (96.0% to the same period of 2020).

Coking Coals

In Jan-Dec 2021, Ukrainian coking plants received 12.93 Mt of coking coals (96.9% to the same period of 2020), of which:

• 65 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (100.6% to Jan-Dec 2020);
• 28 Mt of imported (95.5% to Jan-Dec 2020).

The import share in the total coking coals delivery in Jan-Dec 2021 is 71.8% against 72.8% in Jan-Dec 2020.

The Metallurgical Coke

The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises in Jan-Dec 2021 is 8.420 Mt (103.0% to Jan-Dec 2020), of which:

• 838 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (97.6% to Jan-Dec 2020);
• 582 Mt of imported (388.0% to Jan-Dec 2020).

The import share in the total coke delivery in Jan-Dec 2021 is 6.91% against 1.83% in Jan-Dec 2020.

The Bought Steel Scrap

In Jan-Dec 2021, 3916 Kt of steel scrap (133,7% to Jan-Dec 2020) were collected, of which 3300 Kt (114,1% to Jan-Dec 2020) had been delivered to the Ukrainian consumers. It was exported 616 Kt of steel scrap in Jan-Dec 2021 (1711% to Jan-Dec 2020).

The Natural Gas and Electricity

In Jan-Dec 2021, the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 1.85 billion cubic meters of the natural gas (98.4% to the same period of 2020).

The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in Jan-Dec 2021 is up to 11.40 billion kWh (102.8% to Jan-Dec 2020).
