Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-March 2023 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 348.88 Mt of the pig iron, of which 322.93 Mt by BFs and 25.95 Mt as DRI. This is 3.09% more than in Jan-March 2022 (338.41 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-March 2023 had produced 219.83 Mt that is more than in Jan-March 2022 (204.30 Mt) on 7.60%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-March 2023 is 63.0%.

Ukraine (1.20 Mt or 34.26% to Jan-March 2022) downed from 18^th to 19^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-March 2023 is 459.30 Mt that is of 0.09% lower than in Jan-March 2022 (459.70 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 261.56 Mt that is higher than their steel production of Jan-March 2022 (246.52 Mt) on 6.10%. The share of China in the world steel production is 57.0%.

Ukraine (1.24 Mt or 33.78% to Jan-March 2022) raised from 31^th to 28^th position among 64 world steel producers.
