Results of the Ukrainian Mining&Metallurgical Complex Activity: June and 1st Half-Year 2019
MMC Consolidated Indicators for June and 1st Half-Year 2019
According to clarified data of the balance meeting in Association UKRMETALURGPROM, the June 2019 production was as follows:
— Pig Iron – 1.52 Mt (91% to May 2019 production);
— Steel – 1.66 Mt (91%);
— Finished Products – 1.50 Mt (86%).
For 6 months 2019 were produced:
- Iron Ore Concentrate – 31.62 Mt (105% to the same period of 2018);
- Agglomerate – 15.80 Mt (102%);
- Pellets – 10.93 Mt (103%);
- Coke – 5.19 Mt (97%);
- Pig Iron – 10.24 Mt (101%);
- Steel – 10.93 Mt (105%);
- Finished Products – 9.42 Mt (102%);
- Pipes&Tubes – 0.56 Mt (107%).
As of 9 July 2019, the following main production facilities are in operation: 17 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 7 of 9 OHFs, 13 of 16 BOFs, 6 of 15 EAFs and 15 of 15 concast machines.
It is supposed to produce in August 2019: of Pig Iron – up to 1.8 Mt, of Steel – 1.8 Mt, of Finished Products – 1.6 Mt
The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources in June and 6 months 2019
Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)
In June 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises received up to 2.2 Mt of IORM (100% to May 2019).
There was no IORM import in June.
For 6 months 2019 enterprises were supplied with 14.6 Mt of IORM (all is of the Ukrainian origin, 95% to the same period of 2018).
The IORM export in June 2019 was around 3.42 Mt (91% to May 2019), and for 6 months 2019 – 20.75 Mt (112% to the same period of 2018).
Coking Coals
In June 2019 Ukrainian coking plants had received 0.95 Mt of coking coals (74% to May 2019), of which:
- 31 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (128% to May 2019);
- 64 Mt of imported (64% to May 2019).
In total, for 6 months 2019 coking plants received 7.09 Mt of coking coals (99% to the same period of 2018), of which:
- 44 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (102% to the same period of 2018);
- 65 of imported (98% to the same period of 2018).
The import share in the total coking coals delivery for 6 months 2019 is 79.7% against 80.4% in the same period of 2018
The Metallurgical Coke
In June 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises were supplied with 670 Kt of the coke (79% to May 2019), of which:
- 660 Kt of the Ukrainian origin (85% to May 2019);
- 10 Kt of imported (17% to May 2019).
The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises for 6 months 2019 is 4.7 Mt (98% to the same period 2018), of which:
- 39 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (97% to the same period 2018);
- 31 Mt of imported (122% to the same period 2018).
The import share in the total coke delivery for 5 months 2019 is 6.6% against 5.3% in the same period of 2018
The Bought Steel Scrap
In June 2019 the scrap collecting entities had collected 324 Kt of a steel scrap (90% to May 2019), of which the Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had received 324 Kt as a Bought Scrap (90% to May 2019). There was no scrap export in June (it was exported 8 Kt of s scrap in May 2019).
For 6 months 2019, of collected 1725 Kt of a steel scrap (91% to the same period 2018), Ukrainian consumers were supplied with 1688 Kt (103% to the same period of 2018), and 37 Kt were exported (14% to the same period of 2018).
The Natural Gas and Electricity
In June 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had consumed up to 150 million cubic meters of the natural gas (107% to May 2019).
In total for 6 months 2019 the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 890 million cubic meters of the natural gas (96% to the same period of 2018).
The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in June 2019 is up to 980 million kWh (97% to May 2019), and for 6 months 2019 is up to 5.8 billion kWh (98% to the same period 2018).
