Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Oct 2024 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 1165.12 Mt of the pig iron, of which 1059.41 Mt by BFs and 105.71 Mt as DRI. This is 2.19% less than in Jan-Oct 2023 (1191.25 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Oct 2024 had produced 715.11 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Oct 2023 (744.91 Mt) on 4.00%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Oct 2024 is 61.4%.

Ukraine (5.98 Mt or 121.93% to Jan-Oct 2023) remains on 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Oct 2024 is 1546.59 Mt that is of 1.63% less than in Jan-Oct 2023 (1572.22 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 850.73 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-Oct 2023 (877.04 Mt) on 3.00%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.0%.

Ukraine (6.49 Mt or 125.68% to Jan-Oct 2023) remains on 20^th position among 71 world steel producers.
