Results of the Ukrainian Mining&Metallurgical Complex Activity: April and 4 months 2019
MMC Consolidated Indicators for April and 4 months 2019
According to clarified data of the balance meeting in Association UKRMETALURGPROM, the April production was as follows:
— Pig Iron – 1.84 Mt (100% to March 2019 production);
— Steel – 1.94 Mt (98%);
— Finished Products – 1.65 Mt (97%).
For 4 months 2019 were produced:
- Iron Ore Concentrate – 20.99 Mt (103% to the same period of 2018);
- Agglomerate – 10.67 Mt (101%);
- Pellets – 7.28 Mt (103%);
- Coke – 3.50 Mt (97%);
- Pig Iron – 7.05 Mt (102%);
- Steel – 7.44 Mt (107%);
- Finished Products – 6.21 Mt (100%);
- Pipes&Tubes – 0.39 Mt (108%).
As of 15 May 2019, the following main production facilities are in operation: 19 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 7 of 9 OHFs, 13 of 16 BOFs, 6 of 15 EAFs and 15 of 15 concast machines.
It is supposed to produce in June 2019: of Pig Iron – up to 1.9 Mt, of Steel – 1.9 Mt, of Finished Products – 1.7 Mt
The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources in April and 4 months 2019
Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)
In April 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises received up to 2.6 Mt of IORM (108% to March 2019).
There was no IORM import in May.
For 4 months 2019 enterprises were supplied with 9.8 Mt of IORM (all is of the Ukrainian origin, 94% to the same period of 2018).
The IORM export in April 2019 was around 3.1 Mt (82% to March 2019), and for 4 months 2019 – 13.4 Mt (109% to the same period of 2018).
Coking Coals
In April 2019 Ukrainian coking plants had received 1.29 Mt of coking coals (103% to March 2019), of which:
- 19 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (75% to March 2019);
- 10 Mt of imported (94% to April 2019).
In total, for 4 months 2019 coking plants received 4.87 Mt of coking coals (99% to the same period of 2018), of which:
- 88 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (92% to the same period of 2018);
- 99 of imported (101% to the same period of 2018).
The import share in the total coking coals delivery for 4 months 2019 is 81.9% against 80.3% in the same period of 2018
The Metallurgical Coke
In April 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises were supplied with 816 Kt of the coke (99% to March 2019), of which:
- 752 Kt of the Ukrainian origin (98% to March 2019);
- 64 Kt of imported (102% to March 2019).
The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises for 4 months 2019 is 3.19 Mt (96% to the same period 2018), of which:
- 95 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (96% to the same period 2018);
- 24 Mt of imported (92% to the same period 2018).
The import share in the total coke delivery for 5 months 2019 is 7.5% against 7.9% in the same period of 2018
The Bought Steel Scrap
In April 2019 the scrap collecting entities had collected 380 Kt of a steel scrap (128% to March 2019), of which the Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had received 371 Kt as a Bought Scrap (129% to March 2019), and 9 Kt were exported (112% to March 2019).
For 4 months 2019, of collected 1041 Kt of steel scrap (87% to the same period 2018), Ukrainian consumers were supplied with 1013 Kt (104% to the same period of 2018), and 28 Kt were exported (13% to the same period of 2018).
The Natural Gas and Electricity
In April 2019 Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises had consumed up to 140 million cubic meters of the natural gas (93% to March 2019).
In total for 4 months 2019 the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 600 million cubic meters of the natural gas (92% to the same period of 2018).
The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in May 2019 is up to 950 million kWh (95% to March 2019), and for 4 months 2019 is up to 3.87 billion kWh (97% to the same period 2018).
