Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, for 4 month 2019 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 446.58 Mt of the pig iron, of which 417.17 Mt by BFs and 29.41Mt as a DRI. This exceeds the analogue period of 2018 (423.96 Mt) on 5.34%.

The first place belongs, as usual, to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-April 2019 had produced 262.65 Mt that exceeds the same period of 2018 (239.69 Mt) on 9.58 %. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production for the period of Jan-April 2019 is 58.8%.

Positions of other leading countries are same as before.

Ukraine occupies the 10^th position among 40 world pig iron producers (7.05 Mt or 101.5% to 4 months 2018).

Steel

The steel world production for 4 months 2019 is 599.86 Mt that is on 4.76% more than for same period of 2018 (572.59 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 314.96 Mt that exceeds the steel production in China in the same period of 2018 (285.95 Mt) on 10.14%. The share of China in the world steel production is 52.5%.

Other leading countries remained on their usual positions.

Among 62 world steelmaking countries, Ukraine still occupies the 13^th position (7.44 Mt or 106.6% to Jan-April 2018).
