Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-June 2024 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 704.01 Mt of the pig iron, of which 642.37 Mt by BFs and 61.64 Mt as DRI. This is 1.79% less than in Jan-June 2023 (716.83 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-June 2024 had produced 435.62 Mt that is lower than in Jan-June 2023 (451.89 Mt) on 3.60%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-June 2024 is 61.9%.

Ukraine (3.47 Mt or 122.25% to Jan-June 2023) raised from 14^th to 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-June 2024 is 954.62 Mt that is of 0.01% less than in Jan-June 2023 (954.74 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 530.57 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-June 2023 (536.47 Mt) on 1.10%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.6%.

Ukraine (3.87 Mt or 136.96% to Jan-June 2023) raised from 22^nd to 21^st position among 71 world steel producers.
